Patterns are a characteristic of Cricut Design Space that may not be familiar to many crafters. Pattern fills are used with Cricut's Impress then Cut feature. You lot upload a pattern to Cricut Design Infinite and then employ it to create printable projects, like stickers, sublimation prints, printable vinyl crafts, and more!

Impress then Cut but works with the Maker and Explore series of Cricut machines—Cricut Joy does not have the sensors for Print and so Cut. You also need the desktop version of Cricut Design Space—pattern upload is not compatible with the mobile apps at this fourth dimension.

How to Upload Patterns in Cricut Design Infinite

Open up Design Space and click the Upload icon in the Design Panel on the left. Click the button that says Upload Pattern. Note that you tin can upload a JPG, GIF, PNG, or BMP as a pattern—just not SVG files or DXF files. Patterns are their ain matter!

Once you click your blueprint, Design Space will fill your image with the design!

You can also edit the pattern. With the image selected, become back to the pattern dropdown and click Edit Pattern. Hither you lot'll see that you can change all sorts of elements in your pattern.

Let's look at i more way to utilize Design Fill. Let's say you want to cut a photo in a specific shape. You can really use the photo as a "design" in the same way equally in a higher place.

Then employ the same tutorial to add your photo to a shape (you can big mesomorphic fonts, too—I know a lot of folks like to use photos to spell out words like Family or Holiday). You can use photo paper, but sometimes the Cricut sensors struggle with the shiny surface. Try re-angling your Cricut so light shines in at different angles to try and combat this.
